Squashed Bird

I'm Laura and at the Fernhill Wetlands my class saw a dead little chick (or baby bird). It was still a little fuzzy wuzzy on its gentle little squashed flat head. It was so adorable but sad. Sob. Cry. I think the mother decided to kick it out of the nest because she knew it wouldn't survive and someone probably stepped on it as an egg. Do you think it got stepped on as an egg or chick? I hope he or she's okay up there in heaven! If he or she's even there!

The White Egg

At Fernhill Wetlands I saw this big white egg. It was about the size of a chicken or duck egg. We saw it on the rocky bank all alone. I guess the bird that laid it only lays one egg a year or maybe all the others hatched. It might be a dud. What do you think?

Journey

Journey moved the last time we went to the wetlands. When we were at the wetlands we were thinking of a surprise. At almost the end me and Journey went fishing with an onion and a stick. We all had a good time with each other. Then it was time to get on the bus and I wasn't sad at that time at all. But when we got to school I started to cry. When she was leaving I cried harder. My sister said to get her phone number and I did. I called her and she misses my class and the teachers.

Fish

I saw some fish. They were little and silver and fast swimmers. I saw them in a big pond by some grass weed. I tried to catch the fish with a tube.

The Ladybug on My Paper

I was at the wetlands. I was doing school work and it was relaxing and a ladybug landed on my paper.

Red Winged Blackbirds

You can find a red winged blackbird at Fernhill Wetlands! They are black but have a red space, a yellow space, and a white space on their wing. Its call sounds like it's saying "Pumpkin-eeeder"! They like to sit on things like cattails, trees, and gazebos. They lay their eggs in tall grass and cattails, so be careful! The nest and eggs blend in.

The Way We Saved A Bee At The Fernhill Wetlands

If you explore and are quiet you will see many great things! For example, at one of the ponds my friend Siobhan found a bee and she scooped it up. I went over and was suprised to see a bee sitting next to her in the sun! Then she picked it up and told me she got it out of the pond. I asked her if I could hold him and she let me. When I was holding him Sherry took a picture. I told Siobhan I thought he had no stinger because he was nice. When I was holding him he flew away. And that's how we saved a bee! The End

The Eggs

At Fernhill Wetlands I saw some eggs on the rocks. There were like a million of them! I was exploring the rocks on the bottom of the water when I found the rock with the eggs on it! I don't know what kind they are, but maybe you can find out. I hope you're interested in the Fernhill Wetlands. Have fun exploring the wetlands!

The Barn Swallow Nest

I was sitting in a gazebo and I looked up and saw a swallow nest. The nest was layered by mud, straw, and then mud again. There was a spider web with a feather nearby.

Dragonfly

I was exploring at Fernhill Wetlands. I found a special path. I could see lots of water then I looked at a plant. I saw a blue dragonfly. I saw lots of them flying and Ms. Sherry took a picture.
